As a church that believes in the inerrancy of God’s Word and His immeasurable power, we believe that He has placed us here for a purpose – to share the love of Christ with others, raise up believers through discipleship, and then send them out to do the same. We hope you will join us in our mission to grow and walk in the love and knowledge of Christ.
We believe prayer is the communication between the human soul and the Lord who created it. As such, it is the primary way for believers to express their emotions and desires to God and fellowship with Him (Exodus 30:11; 1 Samuel 1:15; 2 Chronicles 32:20; Psalm 73:28; Ephesians 3:14).
Please feel free to ask any additional questions or concerns about our Church Covenant, Articles of Faith, or how to become a member of our congregation. We would love to have you join our church family.
Pastor Joe Hedrick joined the Magnolia Baptist family in January 2024. He is originally from Thomasville NC, but has served in Roseboro, NC and Trinity, NC over the past 10 years. He began serving in ministry in 2009 as a Minister of Music. Since that time he has attended SEBTS and studied both Church Music as well as Theology and Biblical Studies. Pastor Joe has been married to his wife, KIm, for 35 years. They have two adult children, Michael & Alyssa, and three grandchildren, Callie, Addilyn & Beckett.
Pastor Joe loves Southern Gospel Music and enjoys going to concerts as often as he can. He and KIm also enjoy spending time with their family, especially watching their grandkids play sports. They also love to vacation. Their favorites spots are Disney World, Pigeon Forge TN, St Augustine FL and cruising the Caribbean.
Pastor Joe is so thankful for the call to Magnolia and is excited to see what great things God has in store for this wonderful congregation. His comments were these, “I pray every day that God will use Magnolia as a lighthouse within the Stedman community. My desire is that we can reach the lost for His glory”.
Mrs. Sandra Wrench serves as the part-time secretary at Magnolia Baptist. She has also been employed as a Data Manager with Cumberland County Schools, specifically Stedman Elementary for over 26 years. Sandra has been married to her husband and best friend, Glenn for 41 years. Together they have two daughters & sons-in-laws, plus three wonderful grandchildren.
Magnolia Baptist holds a special place in Sandra’s heart. She is a lifelong member, having been saved here at the age of eleven. She was married at Magnolia and has raised her family here. Both her daughters were baptized here and continue to serve within the church today. Sandra has joyfully served in many areas as a faithful member over the years. Her jobs have included Sunday School Teacher, Mission Friends Leader, VBS Director, Ministry Placement Team, Youth Leader, and WMU Coordinator.
In her spare time, Sandra loves watching her beloved UNC Tarheels. She also enjoys reading and vacationing with her family. Sandra gives God the glory for all her many blessings. Her exact words were these, “I am so thankful that God has blessed me, my family, and our church. I pray that I can be a blessing for Him in all that I do here at Magnolia”.
Magnolia Baptist Church was first established in 1858. For almost 165 years, the members of Magnolia have faithfully served and shared the message of Jesus Christ.
The original building was located in front of the present church and was a simple frame structure. Construction of the current sanctuary was completed in 1970, with the current fellowship hall being completed in 1995.
As a cornerstone to the Stedman and surrounding communities, Magnolia’s congregation continues to seek God’s will for their church and community, deliver God’s infallible Word, minister to those in need, disciple new believers, and grow in God’s full and perfect love.
We encourage you to come exactly as you are. It is the posture of our hearts that God cares about and not the clothes we wear. Some will dress in their best, some will dress in jeans, and others will be wearing business-casual attire.
